The Sandbox partners with Playground to bring LaMelo Ball’s universe to the metaverse

Social hub experience will be first of many activations to come to The Sandbox, inviting new Gen Z fans to enter the metaverse and experience true digital ownership

 

Hong Kong - 31 March 2023 - The Sandbox, a leading decentralized gaming virtual world and a subsidiary of Animoca Brands, today announced a partnership with Playground to create Meloverse for LaMelo Ball's fans.

LaMelo Ball, an NBA star who’s known as a trendsetter with global appeal, will bring his universe to life in The Sandbox metaverse, where fans will be able to hang out, play, and experience his world in a fully immersive 3D interactive environment. This collaboration will create a virtual LaMelo Ball playground for creators, collectors, and fans worldwide. The entertainment experiences being developed include educational initiatives to help users to leverage blockchain technology safely and effectively while having fun.

 

The first event, which will run from April 3 - 17, will feature Melo’s Social Hub and will include 19 unique quests related to some of Melo's closest hobbies. This event is included in the March Festival event's progression system, and will reward users having completed all quests.
