The Codex Hackathon Series is co-hosted by DoraHacks and Semester 1 will run for a period of 30 days on the DoraHacks Hackathon Platform, the world’s largest multi-chain developer incentive platform.

The Codex Hackathon Series is structured into three semesters, each aimed at progressively building a comprehensive decentralized educational ecosystem on blockchain. The first semester is dedicated to launching decentralized finance (DeFi) and infrastructure applications, establishing the financial foundation of the ecosystem. The second semester will focus on developing learning dapps designed to enhance educational opportunities for students. In the third semester, the focus will shift to education finance dapps and applications that leverage on-chain credentials to enable students to access various earning opportunities.

  • Semester 1 - July 8 - Aug 14 2024 - DeFi and Infrastructure

  • Semester 2 - Q3 2024 - Learning dapps

  • Semester 3 - Q1 2025 - Education Finance and Earning dapps

The dapps built on EDU Chain during the event will be offered to a potential audience of existing Open Campus ID holders and a partner network of more than 20 million addressable learners.

With prominent sponsors including Animoca Brands, TinyTap, ForbesWeb3, ApeCoin, HackQuest, and Rise-In, the Codex Hackathon Series is both a place to compete for prizes and funding as well as a stage for showcasing developer talent to leading Web3 companies.

In addition to prizes, Open Campus will offer winning projects in the Codex Hackathon Series participation in a special developers cohort of the Open Campus accelerator program, granting them access to an incubation platform that provides assistance in multiple areas including funding, legal and compliance, marketing, and developer support. Furthermore, event winners from each semester will be spotlighted in ForbesWeb3, highlighting their development expertise, the innovative products they create for EDU Chain, and their achievements and contributions to education’s first blockchain ecosystem. Finally, developers who complete the accelerator cohort will also be able to apply to receive additional funding.

Yat Siu, the co-founder and executive chairman of Animoca Brands and a member of the EDU Foundation Council, said: "The Codex Hackathon Series is a prime opportunity for developers looking to disrupt the field of education. Boasting an array of builders, tools, and prizes and funding, the Codex Hackathon is designed to incentivize impact and innovation in education through the features of the decentralized EDU Chain network."
