Animoca Brands Expands Its Astro Boy Series with Launch of Astro Boy Flight and Astro Boy Siege: Alien Attack
New shoot ’em up game and strategy defense game on the App Store and Google Play
Hong Kong – December 4, 2014 – Animoca Brands, the developer and publisher of mobile games based on globally loved brands such as Garfield, Ben10, Doraemon and Ultraman, has expanded its Astro Boy franchise with the launch of two new games: Astro Boy Flight and Astro Boy Siege: Alien Attack. The new apps join the running game Astro Boy Dash and the edutainment app Astro Boy Piano as the company’s third and fourth titles based on Osamu Tezuka’s famous manga and anime. Astro Boy Siege: Alien Attack is now available for free on the App Store℠ and Google Play™; Astro Boy Flight is currently on the App Store and coming soon to Google Play.
In the arcade-style shoot ‘em up game Astro Boy Flight, evil robots and wicked mechs attack the Earth and threaten to destroy the human race. It’s up to Astro Boy, everybody’s favorite robot boy wonder, to save the planet. Players must control Astro as he flies through the sky, dodging a hail of bullets, missiles and rockets while blasting vicious enemies and drones. Featuring smooth, responsive controls and classic shoot ‘em up action, Astro Boy Flight combines the heart-thumping excitement of classic arcade games with stunning, anime-inspired visual effects.
In the action strategy defense game Astro Boy Siege: Alien Attack, evil aliens invade our planet to plunder its natural resources. This time Astro Boy must protect the world by teaming up with his sister Uran and other allies. Together, our heroes must not only fight the invaders but also build and train an army of robot protectors to push back the alien invasion. Strategy is critical as players must collect the right robot parts, upgrade their armies with the appropriate skills, and carefully choose how to deploy limited resources. Battles play out both in the air and on land with intense real-time action, while colorful 3D graphics and a futuristic art style help bring Astro Boy to life like never before.
Both games are licensed by Tezuka Productions Co., Ltd. and based on Astro Boy, the boy robot character also known as Atom, who first appeared in Osamu Tezuka’s 1952 Japanese comic book (manga) series. Starting in 1963, Astro Boy starred in his own animated television series, and he soon became the first mega-hit in the collection of works that would later become known as “anime.” Over the next half century, Astro Boy starred in numerous comic books, television shows, feature films and video games that enjoyed huge popularity throughout the world. Astro Boy’s celebrity cemented the reputation of Osamu Tezuka as the “God of Manga.”

About Osamu Tezuka and Tezuka Productions Co., Ltd
Osamu Tezuka’s manga and animated films had a tremendous impact on the shaping of the psychology of Japan's postwar youth. His work changed the concept of the Japanese cartoon, transforming it into an irresistible art form and incorporating a variety of new styles in creating the "story cartoon." Changing the face of literature and movies, his work also influenced a range of other genres. His impact on animated film was equal to that which he had on the manga world. The lovable characters appearing in works such as Japan's first animated TV series "ASTRO BOY," the color animated TV series "Jungle Emperor Leo", and the two-hour animated special "Bander Book," captured the hearts of the Japanese through the medium of television, propelling the animated film to tremendous popularity in Japanese general society. Tezuka’s work was exported to the U.S., Europe, and other Asian countries, becoming the stuff of dreams for children around the world. He also ventured into the world of full-length adult animation, exploring all possibilities of the field of animation. In addition to his record of achievement in TV and commercial animation, he also received international acclaim for his work in experimental animation in his later years. Tezuka Productions Co., Ltd. Is the official licensor of the works of Osamu Tezuka. To learn more, please visit http://www.tezukaosamu.net/en/.
